The Repair Companies Shop Terms and Conditions
PREPARATIONS PRIOR TO APPOINTMENT:
The Repair Companies Shop (The Shop) requires that all personal/work property be removed from the vehicle prior to the established check-in time, including the center console, glove box, trunk, under the seats, and any other compartments you would like serviced. Any compartments containing possessions/items will not be cleaned or emptied. Though we do our best to be mindful/respectful, we are not liable for any damage, loss, or misplacement of any items/belongings left in the vehicle. We request that your vehicle have an adequate amount of fuel for travel. If the vehicle does not have adequate fuel, a team member will fuel the vehicle enough to reach its destination and charge a fueling fee. We require that any car seats or booster seats be disconnected and removed prior to services. Car seats will not be cleaned and/or reinstalled. We reserve the right to alter or move a scheduled appointment due to staff levels, weather conditions, and/or machinery malfunctions. Failure to disclose at the time of booking any conditional issues that involve heavy stains, foul odor, human or animal biological waste, mold, mildew, chemical spills, chemical overlay, or any other hazardous material may void our service guarantee. Any vehicles picked up/dropped off outside the Grimes areas will incur a $50 travel fee.
Services rendered to the vehicle must be paid in full before leaving our lot. Unless the client specifies otherwise, only the client is permitted to pick up the vehicle.
Processes:
All clients are required to complete our check-in process. During our check-in process, a tech will clarify clients’ contact information, services desired, and vehicle condition. Once the services have been finished, the client will be contacted by a team member that the vehicle is ready for pickup/drop off. The vehicle will be parked and locked in the front parking lot. The client will have until 5 pm on the day services are finished to pick up their vehicle unless an alternative option is agreed upon. If a client fails to pick up a vehicle by 5 pm, the vehicle will remain locked while the keys are locked securely in the building. If a client requires the vehicle to be left unlocked, keys left in the vehicle, or keys left near the vehicle, the client agrees that The Shop is not liable for theft, damages, and/or vandalism to the vehicle. The Shop holds no liability for vehicles and/or belongings left after the client has been notified and all techs have left the premises. We will attempt to notify clients of changes in service time due to unforeseen circumstances prior to arrival/drop off.
Deposit & Booking:
The client’s deposit secures their appointment time. We require a minimum deposit of$75 or 20% of the cost of service, whichever is greater. The Shop requires a 100% pre-payment on any parts that need to be ordered to complete the approved work. Any appointment cancellations that violate our cancellation policy will result in clients’ loss of deposit. Any payments made on nonrefundable parts are nonrefundable. There may be a restocking fee for parts that are returned or abandoned, and the customer will be responsible for this fee.
Pricing & Payment
All vehicles are subject to an inspection before starting services to identify any areas that may require extra work/materials that are not included in the advertised pricing. We reserve the right to adjust the listed pricing due to vehicle condition and/or size.
Invoices and/or receipts will be rendered by The Shop to the client via email, text, and/or paper copy once the services have been paid in full.
We accept all major credit cards. A 3-3.5% fee for all credit/debit payments
Insurance Claims:
If your insurance company has written an estimate, The Shop requires a copy. Properly endorsed insurance company checks are welcome as payment for your vehicle’s repair.
The Shop is not liable for any changing time frames given on insurance claims pending approval.
If a customer approves an estimate from The Shop and later decides to go through insurance, The Shop reserves the right to compare estimates and re-estimate if necessary. If the project is already underway and the insurance check amount does not meet the approved estimate, the customer is responsible for the monetary difference.
24Hr Cancelation and Rescheduling:
The Shop requires 24-hour notice prior to canceling or rescheduling any appointment or service. If the client cancels or reschedules their appointment without a 24-hour notice, the client will not be refunded their deposit. In cases of inclement weather and the client would like to reschedule their appointment within the next 24 hours, the client’s deposit will still be valid on the newly scheduled appointment. Failure to arrive within 30 minutes of your scheduled appointment time will result in the cancelation of the appointment by The Shop and will be considered a non-rescheduled cancellation.
Pick up and Drop Off:
A secure lockbox is on the right-hand side of our storefront. Should a tech be available to receive the vehicle, the client is to leave the keys in a provided and filled-out envelope in the lockbox. We are not responsible for vehicles or keys left outside.
Should the client request to pick up the vehicle after hours, they may request that the keys be left with the vehicle. The Shop is not liable should the vehicle or vehicle key be stolen, damaged, moved, and/or lost.
The Shop does not store vehicles. However, should the need arise, The Shop will provide a vehicle storage waiver for the customer to sign separately from this document.
Estimates:
Estimates given to customers from The Shop are valid for thirty (30) days from the date they were written. The Shop reserves the right to re-estimate projects after thirty (30) days.
Service Guarantee:
Upon completion of the vehicle, we will walk the client through a satisfaction inspection.
Service claims must be presented in person to The Shop within 48hrs. Suppose there is clear and probable cause that the service technician did not execute the services correctly or there is clear evidence of poor craftsmanship. In that case, we will refund or redo the uncompleted or unsatisfactory portion of the service. Redos, refunds, or reimbursements will not be made after unauthorized cleaning or repairs. No refunds, redos, or additional work will be performed outside the original estimate unless agreed upon by the client and the tech responsible for the vehicle services.
Off-Site Service Requirements:
Mobile services require space to perform our services, permission to be on the property if you are not the owner, a safe location, safe conditions to service your vehicle, and access to a 110v electrical outlet. Should the tech arrive, the above conditions are not met, and/or the client fails to arrive, the appointment will be considered canceled.
Multiple Service Clause – Department Breakdown:
The doors, tailgate, trunk, and hood of the vehicle may be open for extended periods to allow access to clean and/or repair; this may cause the battery to run low on charge. We will charge the vehicle battery as/if needed. Some services require specific after-care instructions that The Shop will provide. These services may have optical imperfections. The optical imperfections will likely go away once the time period has passed. If the imperfections remain even after following the care sheet, the client will bring the vehicle in for a warranty inspection. Should the client neglect the care sheet as determined by The Shop, no action will be taken.
Exterior Services:
We will not move, remove, or adjust any engine covers, batteries, or other parts in or on the engine/engine bay during an engine detail. Any engine cleaning is done at the customer’s request; therefore, The Shop is not liable for any cosmetic, electrical, and/or mechanical damage(s) to the engine/engine bay.
Window Film:
Most cars have black ceramic edges on the sides and rear windows; these ceramic edges are either straight and flat or have a dot pattern (dot matrix). The dot matrix is quite thick on most cars, which prevents the window film from sticking to the area between the dots, resulting in a whitish-looking strip trimming the glass (silvering). Unfortunately, the effects are unavoidable.
Though we strive for perfection in our installations, due to the nature of the product and our natural environment, some degree of dust contamination and minor imperfections are present in every window film application. Pre-existing flaws, scratches, and metal deposits on the glass are often much more noticeable after installing the window film.
Every windshield installation will have minor imperfections, which will be easier to see due to the film being installed on the windshield. Do not apply any decals or accessories to the windshield for seven days. Wearing polarized sunglasses will not result in a refund or warranty coverage for the rainbow effect.
Iowa Window Film Law:
All vehicles registered in the state of Iowa must adhere to Iowa Code §321.438. Iowa DOT has set
the standards as follows in accordance with Iowa Code §321.438:
- Front windshield: Must have at least 70% light transmittance.
- Front-side windows: Must have at least 70% light transmittance.
- Back seat side windows: any tint darkness can be used.
- Rear window: any tint darkness can be used.
Ceramic Coating:
It is recommended that all new or used vehicles have paint correction done before being ceramic coated. The client acknowledges that the ceramic coating on uncorrected areas will be less effective than the corrected areas. By waiving this additional service, the client understands that the coating will be less effective on areas where the paint was not corrected.
Paint correction will remove most light scratches, swirls, marring, and minor marks on the vehicle’s clear coat. The client understands that even though we strive for perfection, some scratching, swirls, and minor marks will still be present after the paint correction process.
Wet sanding removes the top layer of a vehicle’s clear coat. Because of the risks associated with wet sanding, The Repair Companies Shop only uses this technique when there are only two options for the affected area: wet sand or repaint. Therefore, The Repair Companies Shop assumes no responsibility for repairing the affected areas should wet sanding cause additional damage.
Our ceramic coating is an SIO2 (silicone dioxide) coating, which provides protection against UV and makes your vehicle easier to clean. I understand that the coating is not scratch-proof. To prevent rock chips, it is recommended that all vehicles get paint protection film installed on the hood, fenders, bumper, and mirrors before coating.
Due to weather conditions in Iowa, wipers will be used more often, affecting the prolongation of protection. I understand that weather conditions will affect the degree and time of protection. There is no warranty on the durability of the windshield or glass coating.
If any liquid or substance gets on the upholstery, it is advised to be cleaned up as soon as possible to prevent stains. I understand staining may occur the longer the substance remains on the upholstery. There is no warranty for staining your vehicle’s interior.
If brake dust or road debris is on the wheels and calipers, cleaning it off as soon as possible is advised to prevent stains. Staining may occur on wheels and calipers the longer the substance stays on. Wheel coating is not recommended for bare aluminum wheels; therefore, bare aluminum wheels will not be coated. If you want to proceed with the coating, there will be no warranty on bare aluminum wheels. There is a 2-year warranty for the wheels and calipers. The client is responsible for re-torquing the wheels to the vehicle manufacturer’s torque specifications.
We recommend washing your vehicle bi-weekly. Annual inspection and boosting are required to maintain the manufacturer’s warranty. There is a charge of $199 (car), $250 (SUV/ Truck), and $300+ (oversized) for annual boost and maintenance service throughout the warranty period, including hand wash, decontamination, and boost of the ceramic coating.
Paint Protection Film:
Paint Protection Film is an 8-millimeter-thick product designed to protect your vehicle’s paint from chips, scratches, and swirl marks. PPF is applied to the exterior of your vehicle’s paint. Our PPF is warranted against yellowing, staining, cracking, blistering, and delamination for ten years. The warranty does not cover damage from accidents or objects that hit or penetrate the film. Depending on the weather conditions, your new paint protection film will take 3-4 weeks to cure fully.
The client is aware that the design of PPF is for OEM factory paint. The vehicle cannot have paint protection coatings, such as ceramic ones. These can affect the effectiveness of the adhesion and may cause lifting, bubbles, and other issues. The client waives and releases The Repair Companies Shop from any warranty or damage claims where a product has been applied to a non-OEM paint surface.
Paint may lift on repainted/OEM painted panels if improperly prepared during the painting process. By authorizing The Repair Companies Shop to proceed with the installation, the client acknowledges the risk, waives any claims against The Repair Companies Shop, and agrees that The Repair Companies Shop will not be held liable if damage occurs during the installation process.
All PPF kits are computer-cutting using cutting software. Pre-cut kits involve stopping short of edges, edges around badges, washers, and other parts. The customer understands that PPF is a sacrificial layer for your car, not a wholly invisible or matte layer. Customers may choose to have a custom design fit or bulk install for an additional fee.
Restyling paint protection films are clear matte, pattern, and color films. Badges, trims, and parts must be safely removed to wrap over the edges. There will be vinyl inlay and seams to cover up OEM paint. There is an additional charge for installing restyling paint protection film.
Although we strive to wrap all edges, some cannot be wrapped. Debris will build up on exposed edges/seams over time and become more visible on white/light-colored vehicles.
Due to exposed edges, partial installations will have more noticeable debris. We recommend ceramic coating your vehicle to reduce debris build-up. Due to debris build-up, there is no warranty or reapplication of the film.
Headlights are not recommended for PPF installation due to HID features and exterior coatings. By authorizing The Repair Companies Shop to proceed with headlight film installation, the customer acknowledges the risk, waives any claims against The Repair Companies Shop, and agrees that The Repair Companies Shop will not be held liable.
There is no warranty for paint protection film for any vehicle driven on the track or off- roading. We highly recommend ceramic coating the film and OEM paint to protect your vehicle from tar on the track. Though we strive for perfection in our installations, due to the nature of the product and our natural environment, some degree of dust contamination and minor imperfections are present in every PPF application. Pre-existing flaws, scratches, and rock chips on the paint are often much more noticeable after PPF is installed. Paint Protection Film will have minor imperfections like orange peel. Used and older vehicles will have more imperfections due to their age.
Detail:
Interior details require numerous different liquids. The vehicle may require some time for the seats/carpet/fabrics to dry. Drying time will be disclosed during payment. Although it is scarce, due to our natural environment’s changing temperatures, it is possible for a window to crack due to the change in temperature. The Shop is not liable for any damages caused by/due to our natural environment. Detailing a vehicle may make imperfections more noticeable. At the customer’s request, we will notify them of any imperfections found during the detail and provide an estimate to repair these.
Upholstery:
Suppose a client is requesting services be completed at an off-site location. In that case, the tech must be provided with all of the off-site requirements, as well as an outlet within 10 feet, access to the fuse box, enough space for the vehicle being serviced, and the vehicle the tech is working out of.
All repairs require a 48-hour cure time. During this time, we advise the client to avoid using the area and harsh chemicals. Should the client need to clean the area, we recommend using mild soap and water to clean it gently. We are not liable for any damage to the area due to the client cleaning it.
Any repairs involving cigarette burns and/or high wear areas such as, but not limited to, steering wheel, shifters, driver-side door panel, and driver seat bolster are not covered by our one-year craftsmanship warranty
If we cannot effectively repair the area, the tech will suggest a replacement part. If the client refuses the replacement and requires repair instead, said repair will not be covered under our one-year craftsmanship warranty.
We do not build seat covers. Should the seat cover need to be replaced, we will order the cover through a 3rd party. Due to the age of the vehicle, vehicle condition, and processes out of our control, the seat covers may not perfectly match the size and/or color of the rest of the seats in the vehicle. Though we strive for perfection, all of our dyes and paints are mixed by hand; therefore, the color may be a different color than the rest of the interior of the vehicle.
Hail & Dent Repair:
If a client requests services be completed at an off-site location, the tech must be
provided with all off-site requirements and shade.
For any repairs requiring the tech to drill, the tech will require the clients’ prior approval.
When a dent occurs in the vehicle, it is also likely to cause crack points. Pushing the dents may worsen these crack points. Crack point repair is not included in the dent cost.
Any hail estimates require in-person evaluations for accuracy in pricing.
Based on customer instruction, the hail repair cost is subject to change from the original estimated cost.
Paint and Auto Body:
Whenever a vehicle is receiving touch-up services, expectations will be given to the client based on what percentage of repair the tech believes they will be able to achieve
Any paintwork requires 30 days to cure out before being pressure washed.
Touch-ups will not hide or conceal damage. It colors imperfections with factory-matched paint to keep the substrate from deteriorating further.
Due to the age of the vehicle, surface conditions, and any sun fading that may have occurred, your vehicle’s color may appear to differ from its original coloring. We will strive to reach the closest blendable match in all of our paints. Services requesting a color change are ineligible for refund once the client chooses the color/look and services are complete.
Wheel Repair:
Installation includes all labor and parts necessary to install or remove and replace a tire.
Winter tire removal and/or installation may require additional fees.
Installation and/or removal of low-profile tires may require additional fees due to installation complexity. Low-profile tires are not meant for multiple removals and installations. Doing so could result in tears or damage to the tire. The Shop is not liable for incurring damage that may happen to said tires, and the customer has agreed to these terms.
Environmental/ waste or tire disposal fees may apply as imposed by Iowa law and will be subject to change.
After the first 25 miles of driving after your wheels have been removed and replaced, after driving on new wheels, or after new tire installations, the customer can bring the vehicle back for re-torquing or do it themselves. This is due to clamping loads possibly changing following the initial installation.
Malfunctions of the wheel may occur before, during, and/or after the repair. These malfunctions may include cracking, bending, or fractures to the wheel. Wheels that become further damaged during the repair process due to unforeseen issues in the material, including but not limited to stress cracks/fractures or weak material. Should a wheel fail further during a repair and become unsafe or unfixable, the client is still responsible for payment of time and materials incurred. The client relieves the shop of any and all responsibility and liability for any malfunctions of the vehicle while work is being completed or after.
Powder Coated and Painted Wheels:
The Shop offers a one-year warranty on powder coating and a six-month warranty on painted wheels. The warranty does not include normal wear and tear, such as rock chips or curb rash. The Shop is not liable for damages caused by the vehicle owner neglecting to care for the repair or wheel properly.
Warranties:
Unless stated otherwise, all our services come with a one-year craftsmanship warranty. This warranty does not cover part defects. Any issues due to a defect in parts, items, and/or materials must be taken to the manufacturer’s warranty.
Tire and Wheel Installation
Installation and Life of Tire Maintenance:
Installation includes all labor and parts necessary to install or remove, and replace a tire.
Parts for a new tire may include a TPMS rebuild kit or rubber valve stem. Installation charges may vary based on the off-market and installation complexity.
WINTER TIRES
Winter tire removal and/or reinstallation may require additional fees.
Wheel Condition:
If a wheel has a cracked or peeling coating that is not visible from the exterior, the customer will be informed, and work will halt until the customer has made a decision.
Should the customer want to proceed with the installation, all warranties on that wheel will be null and void. The customer will hold The Shop harmless and in no way responsible for any damages incurred now or in the future. Any future replacement will be at full cost.
The Shop Meets or Exceeds Manufacturer Specifications:
The Shop performs all repairs and services to meet or exceed manufacturers’ specifications.
Manufactures Warranty Not Affected:
The aforementioned warranty disclaimers do not limit or otherwise affect the terms of any applicable warranties from the manufacturer of the tires/wheels/parts.
Manufacture Warranty Requirements:
Lug nuts must be retorqued in the first 100 miles. To claim any manufacturer’s warranty, a tire rotation record and receipt must be kept and proven. This must be recorded every 8,000 to 10,000 miles.
Aftermarket Parts:
The Shop does not and will not warrant aftermarket parts that are on the vehicle or are provided for installation. Parts such as, but not limited to, aftermarket lug nuts can crack, peel, or warp and are out of the control of our technicians, and The Shop will not be held responsible for replacement.
Tires/Wheels/Parts may not be from the Original Equipment Manufacture:
This invoice and estimate, if required/requested, may have been prepared based on the use of replacement parts (also known as non-OEM, aftermarket, and crash parts) supplied by a source other than the manufacturer of your motor vehicle. Warranties applicable to these replacement parts are provided by the manufacturer or distributor of these parts rather than the manufacturer of your vehicle.
Environmental Waste or Tire Disposal:
If applicable, this invoice includes a waste tire fee imposed by state law at the rate established
thereunder.
Return or Inspection of Replaced Parts:
You are entitled to inspect or have returned to you all replaced parts, except those that are too heavy or large, those required to be sent back to the manufacturer (core) or distributor because of warranty work or an exchange agreement, or any part required by any federal or state statute, rule, or regulation to be disposed of by the facility.
Vehicles with App Accessible Cameras:
All cameras will be blocked for the safety of our team members and our facility.

The Shop reserves the right to change any policies, terms, and conditions at any time.
We will do our best to post updates to these terms and policies on our web page.
We will collect client information such as name, phone number, email, and payment information. This information will be used in relation to the vehicle serviced for purposes of communication, records, deposit, payment, and/or liability of the vehicle. Personal information given by the client will not be shared with any 3rd party unless necessary to service the vehicle, and with clients’ permissions are granted.
Tech will provide clients with an after-care sheet for any related services performed on the vehicle. We are not liable for any damages, imperfections, and/or issues resulting in negligence by not following the aftercare sheet.
The Shop assumes no liability for pre-existing damage or damage hidden behind other issues.
Due to reasons beyond our control, The Shop is not liable for receiving damaged or
incorrect parts, which may delay service times.
Sublease Work:
The Shop’s goal is to keep as much work in-house as possible. However, we may sublease some services that we do not perform in-house. These services include, but are not limited to, windshield replacements, sensor recalibration, or dealer-only resets. In the event that we sublease work to a third party, your contact and vehicle information may be provided to this party, and The Shop assumes no liability for the services performed by a third party.
